Tompkins County, population 105,500, is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York. Ithaca, the county seat, sits at the southern tip of majestic Cayuga Lake in an area of dramatic gorges and waterfalls. Ithaca has a small-town atmosphere while showcasing the qualities of a larger city through an abundance of restaurants, theatre, arts, shopping, cultural, and recreational activities. Company History
Tompkins County was founded in 1817 and is operated under a County Charter with a legislature-administrator form of government.
County gevernments in New York State offer a diverse collections of services. Originally created as administrative subdivisions of State government, their responsibilities include delivery of a wide range of human services delateted to counties by the State.
