The Santa Fe New Mexican, founded in 1849, is a family-owned and independent daily newspaper. We do it all at The New Mexican - from writing the stories, selling advertising, designing layouts, printing the paper and making sure it's distributed throughout northern New Mexico.
Additionally, we have the largest printing facility in New Mexico. Not only do we print our daily paper and our sister paper, the Taos News; we also print the New York Times, the Albuquerque Journal and 40-50 other papers and periodicals for companies throughout New Mexico and beyond.
The Santa Fe New Mexican repeatedly wins awards for journalism, design, photography and editorials. Creating and producing a quality community newspaper takes a talented and committed staff. Each job is important to the overall success of The New Mexican.
Company History
The Santa Fe New Mexican is Northern New Mexico’s premier media company, comprising robust marketing, distribution, print, digital and news-gathering operations that have served the Land of Enchantment since 1849.
Under the local ownership of the Martin-McKinney family for more than 60 years, the people of The New Mexican make it a place where great work happens, team members grow and are appreciated for their efforts.
Famed organizations including The New York Times hold The New Mexican’s print operations as an exemplar of high-quality work. National journalism organizations, meanwhile, have heaped renown on the company’s news operation for general excellence, leading to the publication’s reputation as among the best small-market newspaper in the country.
The New Mexican makes a difference. For decades, the company has allied itself with charitable. civic and philanthropic organizations including the American Cancer Society, Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce and Museum Foundation of New Mexico.
For more than 35 years, The New Mexican has led The Empty Stocking Fund, a holiday drive providing money and support to neighbors in need. In recent years the fund has raised more than $200,000 in a single season, which has helped families heat a home, repair a car or pay a bill.
