Company Overview

Rocklin Academy operates four tuition-free public school sites including two K-6 elementary schools (Rocklin Academy Turnstone and Rocklin Academy Meyers), one TK-8 site (Rocklin Academy Gateway), and a 7-12 middle/high school (Western Sierra Collegiate Academy). Rocklin Academy Family of Schools uses the Core Knowledge curriculum in grades TK–8 and a college preparatory curriculum at the high school. Western Sierra Collegiate Academy is recognized in as a California Gold Ribbon School and was ranked 8th in the state and 47th in the nation in 2015 by US News & World Report.

Mission: The Rocklin Academy Family of Schools are public charter schools that embody high standards, parent partnership, rich core content and collaborative use of data resulting in high quality teaching and learning in a nurturing environment.

Benefits

Group Health Benefits Offered:

Benefits Allowance provided by the school - $750 per month :

H.S.A. Qualified Plan: the Academy deposits the following amount into an H.S.A. account: Employee only coverage: $125; Employee + 1 or more coverage: $250. The remainder of the $750 allowance will be applied toward other selected benefits (dental and/or vision) with any remaining costs over the $750 allowance being deducted, on a pre-tax basis, from the employee's pay. Co-Pay Plan: the entire $750 is applied to all medical premiums elected. The allowance is up to $750. Therefore, the employee does not receive any unused allowance. Waive Coverage: eligible employees with group coverage through a spouse/partner’s plan, will receive $275 cash-in-lieu of benefits.

Short Term Disability:
The Academy pays the premium for short term disability for all full time employees. The STD benefit is 60% of pay to a maximum of $1,061 for up to 12 weeks.

Long Term Disability:
The Academy pays the premium for long term disability which becomes effective once an employee has exhausted his/her short term disability benefits. The long term disability is also paid at 60% of salary and covers a disabled person to age 65.

Group Life Insurance:
The Academy pays the premium for $50,000 in life insurance for all full time employees.
Employees may also elect to participate in voluntary life insurance and purchase additional coverage at their cost.

Tax Sheltered Annuity [403(b) Plan and 403(b) ROTH Plan]:
The Academy has its Plan Document written and managed through National Benefit Services. The organization has approved two vendors: AIG Valic and Plan Member Services.

Flexible Spending Accounts:
The Academy has its employees’ FSA accounts administered through TASC. Employees may choose to make pre-tax payroll deductions into an FSA Medical and/or Dependent Care account(s) and use the funds to pay qualified expenses for daycare and/or medical expenses.

Sick Days:
The Academy allots the following number of sick days for each full-time (30+ hours per week) employee (up to 50% may be used for personal time). These days are not accrued and do not carry forward year to year. However, at the end of each year, the balance of any remaining days is paid out at a flat rate of $75/day.
• All employees hired on a contract basis: 10 per year;
• Up to 190 work days: 10 per year (80 hours for non-exempt, pro-rated based on an 8 hour day)
• Up to 215 work days: 11 per year (88 hours for non-exempt, pro-rated based on an 8 hour day)
• 216+ work days: 12 per year (96 hours for non-exempt, pro-rated based on an 8 hour day)

CalSTRS/CalPERS:
Participation in the appropriate plan for eligible employees based on a set of criteria
