NWTHS is a 489-bed acute care medical center which includes an 85-bed behavioral health facility located on the NWTHS campus that provides inpatient and outpatient services. In May 1996, Northwest Texas Healthcare System was re-established as a for-profit hospital of Universal Health Services, Inc., of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, the nation's third largest hospital management company. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, with the distinction of "Commendation" on two consecutive surveys, and licensed by the state Regulatory Affairs Department.
