Company History

LS3P celebrates 50 years of dedication to our clients and the communities in which we practice and live. The firm’s heritage of design excellence was founded May 1, 1963, by Frank Lucas. LS3P has since grown to include a professional staff of over 300 serving the Southeast from offices in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, and Myrtle Beach South Carolina; Charlotte, Raleigh, and Wilmington, North Carolina; and in Savannah, Georgia.

Today, LS3P is led by CEO Thompson E. Penney, (who started at the firm as a high school intern;) Executive Vice President for Practice, Katherine N. Peele; and Executive Vice President for Business, George E. Temple, IV. Seven practice leaders serve a diverse array of markets including Government, Higher Education, Healthcare, K-12 Education, Commercial, Faith-Based and Residential design teams. The firm’s extensive design portfolio has resulted from a diverse breadth of specialized expertise in project types that also include Aviation, Parking Decks, Civic, and Parks and Recreation projects.
