Located in the heart of downtown Flagstaff, Arizona, we are a Construction Services firm that specializes in commercial building construction and renovation, civil construction, and renewable energy projects.
Founded in 1999 by President and CEO Tim Kinney, KCS provides complete construction services through traditional as well as Alternative Project Delivery Methods, including Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and Design-Build.
Sustainability is a crucial cornerstone for us. To date, we have completed more LEED projects, including Platinum and Net Zero buildings, than any other contractor in the region, and it’s an accomplishment that makes us very proud. Our portfolio is a growing point of fulfillment that includes local and national projects such as state-of-the-art medical centers and Fortune 100 retail stores; full-service civil construction initiatives for municipalities and universities; and renewable energy solutions for public works initiatives and prestigious institutions.
We are also committed to community service as evidence by our active involvement in urban trail clean-ups, volunteer nights at the local food bank, and contributions towards impact-focused nonprofits. Last, but not least, we recognize that our success is a product of our dedicated employees and therefore prioritize time for appreciation, celebration, and some good old fashion fun. Our annual house-boat trip to Lake Powell and holiday party at the historic Orpheum Theater are two event examples that help us stay connected with the company’s bigger vision as well as with each other.

Company History
The evolution of Kinney Construction Services, Inc. (KCS) has been taking place over the past 35 years. The journey began after my graduation from the College of Engineering at Northern Arizona University in 1982 during a recession in which the unemployment rate was over nine percent. With a bit of luck, I was employed by a large Real Estate/Construction Company in New York City and within one year I became the founder and sole owner of West Contracting Corp., a general contracting and construction management firm in Manhattan. A promise to myself to return to Arizona came to fruition in 1995 and the sale of West Contracting Corp. to JT Magen was concluded in 1997. The same drive for excellence and client satisfaction that was the key to West’s success is the very same drive that launched KCS. In 1999, KCS was incorporated and opened for business in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Over the past 18 years of operation, KCS has grown to be an award-winning general contracting, construction management, and design/build firm performing work throughout the nation. With our headquarters in Flagstaff, we currently have operations in the Verde Valley and Phoenix, Arizona.
