Company History

ILC Dover was a spinoff of International Latex Corp., a manufacturer of rubber-based compounds started in Dover in 1947. In the early 1960s, NASA contracted with ILC for Apollo spacesuits. ILC was to fabricate the joints for the new spacesuit. The company later was given the contract to produce more than 30 spacesuits for the upcoming Apollo missions, including the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.
