Company Profile

Hillcrest Family Services

Company Overview

Today is no different, in many respects. We have remained flexible in our service model and have been proactive in adding and improving the services we provide to clients. At our core, we focus on two key areas: healthcare and education.

But today is very different in many respects. We are embarking on a transformational process that will align our every effort with the national model of the Five Promises. Created by America's Alliance for Youth, we have made the Five Promises Model our own, and added a sixth Promise. Those promises are: caring adults, safe places, healthy starts, effective education, opportunities to serve, and opportunities for a spiritual connection.

Company History

HILLCREST FAMILY SERVICES had its beginning in 1896 when the first woman doctor to practice medicine in Dubuque — Nancy M. Hill, M.D. — became concerned about young unmarried mothers and their babies who were not receiving the proper care. She called together a group of Dubuque women and told them about the unwholesome conditions under which these young mothers lived with their babies. The women responded by forming an organization to help. They elected officers and were incorporated as the Women’s Rescue Society of Dubuque on February 26, 1896.
