Company Overview

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a project engineering organization responsible for providing design, manufacturing, and procurement management for the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of high-quality nuclear power plant components for installation in submarines and aircraft carriers.

Every hour of every day, Navy warships are deployed around the world in an effort to respond wherever America's interests are threatened. Standing behind the U.S. Navy's Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) is BPMI, a prime contractor that provides engineering services and support to keep the fleet moving.

For 60 years, the NNPP has depended upon BPMI's team of highly skilled engineers, procurement personnel, and support staff to continually advance nuclear technology to support approximately 80 U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines.

Company History

Since 1956, at the direct request of the Navy's Admiral Hyman G. Rickover, our employees have successfully supported our nation's fleet and sailors in various aspects of the design, development, and continuing support of Naval Nuclear Propulsion (NNPP) equipment—a vital part of our nation's defense. We work with our many partners to deliver and maintain safe, reliable, and cost-effective products that ensure the long-term viability of the NNPP.
