Vice President of People and Culture

The Vice President of Construction is responsible for the organization, planning, processes, high-level personnel management and overall success of construction-related activities of our in-house general contracting company. This person will be tasked with driving accountability throughout the construction department in order to achieve individual project success (budget, schedule, quality) as well as identify any re-structuring or additional staffing needs required to achieve success. In addition, this role will be responsible for generating accurate and timely reports to Harwood International’s COO based on status of projects under development as well as profitability of the construction activities under this person’s oversight.

  • Manage and provide oversight of Senior Project Managers who will report directly to this person
  • Develop and implement construction policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement standards for budgets, scheduling and compliance
  • Drive accountability to SPMs and their teams
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to construction personnel
  • Work closely with Managing Director of in-house design studio to ensure joint-accountability across vertically-integrated design-bid-build development platform
  • Drive interdepartmental and intra-organizational communication
  • Produce weekly reports for various projects under development based on key performance indicators set forth quarterly
  • Work closely with HI Executive leadership to develop a business plan for future of this company in order to ensure sustainable and measurable growth strategy
  • Work with accounting department to generate reports for profitability for overall construction activity based on key performance indicators set forth quarterly
  • Act as point of contact for other department heads, executives and ownership for all construction-related activity to maintain proper lines of communication
  • Work with accounting department on timely pay application and collections

Required Education & Experience
  • Previous experience supporting Hospitality, no exceptions
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years experience in construction management
  • Previous experience effectively leading a construction department and/or multiple mid-large construction projects as a project director or executive within a construction company
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at various levels
  • Ability to meet organization standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and Procore
  • Analytical problem solving ability with attention to detail
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s in Construction
  • Staff supervision experience
  • Experience running a construction department or company
