The University of Kansas Health System (UKHS) has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in their search for a dynamic, experienced executive to serve as its next Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR).

This leader will serve as the senior human resources executive for the flagship hospital and other points of care in the Kansas City area. The new VPHR will assess current operations, planning and implementing state-of-the industry HR practices. Additionally, the VPHR will design and implement business partner related initiatives involving labor management, talent acquisition and retention, leadership development, data/technology and Total Reward programs. She/he will be responsible for leading a function that supports institutional success and that aligns with the broader strategic plan and business goals and objectives, ensuring the organization has access to the best people talent available, while also positioning UKHS as the employer of choice. Continuing the high level of employee engagement and strong, positive culture is vital to on-going system success. The Health System prides itself on a strong, employee-centric culture, focused on having an engaged workforce whose professional satisfaction translates into a singular patient/family experience.

The Health System is the premier provider in eastern Kansas and western Missouri. The original hospital was founded in 1906, but in the past two years, has evolved into a system with the integration of the faculty practice plan, the acquisition of HaysMed in western Kansas and the joint venture partnership with Ardent Health Services to manage St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. Today, UKHS is a $2.2 billion health system with services provided across the state and the intention to evolve further into a state-wide provider.

The VPHR position is best suited for a progressive, creative Human Resource professional who can easily transition between high level strategic meetings and operations to help solve issues arising in a complex, fast paced academic environment. Experience in an HR leadership role is critical; preferably, but not limited to, experience within a hospital and/or health system setting. You may be assured that all nominations will be handled with the utmost professional courtesy and confidentiality. For more information, please contact Christine Mackey-Ross and Michael Raddatz at michaelr@wittkieffer.com or 630-575-6106.
