Vice President, Human Resources

Sentry Management is searching for a Vice President of Human Resources to direct and oversee the company’s Human Resources Department in a manner that supports our mission and overall strategy. This position has high accountability and reports directly to the President. We seek an individual who is a proven leader, strategic thinker, and problem-solver.

Sentry Management is a full-service community management company. Our business is the day-to-day operation of communities, homeowner associations and condominiums. Sentry Management currently operates in 17 states and over 40 markets. Leadership in the Human Resources Department will play an important role as the company continues to progress and evolve.

  • Assist in creating an enterprise culture that motivates and empowers employees to live the Foundation Principles of the company. Provide HR guidance to company’s leadership team toward this objective.
  • Provide ongoing advice to President on areas where Human Resources Department can help the company achieve its strategic goals.
  • Create processes and an employment environment that maximizes the company’s ability to identify, hire and retain great employees. Ensure all employees are treated ethically and morally.
  • Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with all employment practice laws and government labor regulations:

            o Understand Federal laws and regulations as they relate to employment practices.

            o Understand state and local laws where the company operates.

            o Provide guidance, expertise and training to management and employees regarding employment-related law and regulations.

  • Oversee, maintain and keep current HR-related documents such as Employee Manual and Safety Manual.
  • Review, recommend and implement leading technology that can help drive Human Resources functions and initiatives.
  • Implement effective performance planning process, and ensure that evaluations are completed in accordance with schedule.
  • Oversee payroll processing, including working with accounting department to ensure Sentry is reimbursed by client Associations for on-site payroll.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs
  • Oversee Workers’ Compensation matters:

            o Manage and resolve claims.

            o Inspire employees to establish and maintain a positive safety culture.

            o Perform annual Workers’ Compensation audits.

  • Preparation of applications required by law to be filed with city, county, state and federal agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, and other regulatory agencies
  • Supervise Human Resources team.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • Understanding of ACA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other employment laws.
  • Highest level of interpersonal communication & listening skills.
  • Must have exceptional leadership skills.
  • Ability to use discretion, sound judgment and maintain strictest confidentiality when handling sensitive materials and information.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, multitask and meet all deadlines.
  • A positive attitude with a high level of integrity, credibility and confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated, take initiative and accept accountability.
  • Strong team contributor with a solutions-minded attitude.


  • Bachelor's/University Degree in Human Resources Management, Business or a related field required.
  • SHRM-CP is highly preferred.
  • Seven or more years of Human Resources experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, One Note.
  • Knowledge of Human Capital systems; ADP a plus.
  • Must pass pre-employment criminal background check and Motor Vehicle Report for driving record.
  • Must be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Spanish bilingual, a plus.
  • Ability to travel, a plus.
