Vice President – Benefits and Compensation – Position Purpose

The Vice President – Benefits and Compensation oversees, designs and administers the benefits and compensation programs of the organization, including evaluation and design of benefits programs to ensure they support JA’s benefits philosophy and comply with all laws and regulations; analysis of compensation policies, government regulations, and prevailing wage rates to develop and maintain competitive compensation plans; management of Workday, the Junior Achievement HCMS platform including daily administration, updates to system design and deployment and training to JA Areas. This position is the primary point of contact for all health / welfare / pension plan benefits issues and compensation issues for JA USA National Office and JA Area associates in the United States and manages relationships with external compensation and benefits service providers and consultants.  

This position is located at the Junior Achievement USA National Office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Vice President reports to the Senior Vice President, Talent and Organization Development and directly manages two staff members, Benefits Manager and Benefits Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administration of Health and Welfare Plans

  • Oversees plans for medical, dental, and vision, life insurance and long term disability
  • Manages relationships with external service providers
  • Provides advice to Junior Achievement managers and associates on matters related to benefit plans and assures resolution of inquiries

Administration of Compensation Systems

  • Manages the development of the compensation system that provides recommended salary structures to Junior Achievement Area offices
  • Manages and administers the compensation system for the Junior Achievement USA National office including the development of a competitive salary structure, development of position descriptions and position pricing, the compensation budget, and the annual merit increase structure
  • Manages relationships with external service providers

Administration of Pension Plan

  • Assures that the pension plan and related services for Junior Achievement support a competitive position for JA USA to attract and retain employees while remaining cost effective and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Works with external providers to design and manage administrative processes for the pension plan

Management of Workday HCMS System

  • Oversees the use of the Workday system to support Human Resource functions
  • Develops functionality that meets the needs of key stakeholders

Leadership Role

  • Serves as a member of the Junior Achievement USA Human Resources Committee and supports the chair of the committee in routine activities
  • Supports the Junior Achievement USA Board of Directors Executive Compensation Subcommittee

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ten years of human resources, benefits, compensation and pension experience
  • Experience with the Workday HCMS platforms or other similar HCMS platforms
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrating effective communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High level of customer focus in dealing with employees, managers and key stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Desired

  • CBP, CCP, CEBS, other benefit or compensation certifications
