                                                    JOB TITLE:  TRAINING MANAGER

STUDENT NUTRITION SERVICES DEPARTMENT

 

 

                                                     GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

 

Under the direction of the Director of Student Nutrition Services, has limited supervision, organizing and coordinating specific duties related to the department’s human resources planning, training and development.  The Training Manager manages the day-to-day operations related to employee relations, recruitment, hiring recommendations, employment, training and development.

 

                                            SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Manages daily training and human resources activities within the Student Nutrition Services Department to include:

 

  • Assists with the development and administration of procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the district and department.
  • Participates in departmental staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Maintains employee-related databases.  Prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company.  Prepared periodic reports, as needed.
  • Fully utilizes the district’s software program to complete personnel actions, make hiring recommendations
  • Ensures department is in compliance with the district’s performance management system.
  • Assists with the establishment of an in-house employee training system that addresses the company’s training needs including training needs assessment, new employee orientation or onboarding, staff development, measurement of training impact
  • Maintains employee training records to include but not limited to required district training, USDA professional standards, OSHA, HACCP etc.
  • Manages the recruitment process for nonexempt employees and interns using the district’s standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce
  • Attends recruitment events
  • Reviews the resumes and applications for job candidates and interviews nonexempt candidates for employment
  • Communicates Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and laws to staff
  • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship
  • Participates in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth
  • Advises managers and supervisors about the steps in the in the progressive counseling system of the district.  Assists managers on employment issues
  • Provides payroll processing back up support to the department’s paymaster
  • Protects the interests of employees and the district in accordance with Richland One’s policies and governmental laws and regulations.
  • Assists with employee communication and feedback through such avenues as department meetings, suggestion programsemployee satisfaction surveys, newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and Intranet use.
  • Helps to monitor the organization's culture so that it supports the attainment of the district's goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
  • Assists with the district-wide committees including the wellness, training, environmental health and safety, activity, and culture and communications committees.

 

Performs computer data entry to record and retrieve various information and to prepare reports.

 

Operates a variety of equipment such as a computer, printer, audio-visual equipment, telephone,  etc.

 

Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, subordinates, District administrators and staff, students, parents, etc.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Performs related duties as required.

 

 

                                                MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

 

Requires a degree in human resources, business administration or a related field supplemented by one to two years in experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must possess valid state driver's license.
