The Training & Development Manager is responsible for analyzing training needs and training gaps in the organization, designing, developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for all levels across Sloan.  This position will support the execution of the Training Strategy. The role is responsible for development of reporting for measurement of training needs and results. Designs, coordinates, conducts training that support the Sloan Initiatives. 

  • Identify training needs and training gaps in the organization in cooperation with HR & managers to develop, implement and conduct training.
  • Design, develop, and implement/facilitate comprehensive training solutions to improve both organization and individual team member performance.
  • Customize existing content to present in new formats as well as becoming certified in additional vendor programs.
  • Facilitate learning experiences in multiple delivery modalities including, but not limited to, eLearning (LMS mySloan), instructor-led training in both in person and virtual environments, podcast, and micro-learning.
  • Assess learning program participants for knowledge and behaviors learned; develop metrics to assess the effectiveness and ROI of learning programs.
  • Provides input to the Training Strategy and the development of specific training development plan.
  • Formulates training outlines and determining instructional methods utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Optimizes the training portfolio as specialized targeted courses are offered to managers and employees.
  • Prepares training manuals and training offers for employees and managers.
  • Plans training courses and sessions and manages and monitors the assigned training budget.
  • Collaborates with the external training vendors and delivers tailored training programs and courses.
  • Oversees the quality of delivered training sessions by external vendors.
  • Builds the internal network of internal trainers (within HR) and organizes regular Train the Trainer sessions.
  • Monitors the best practice in the training area and introduces it in the organization.
  • Monitors and evaluates training programs to ensure they align with strategic need, are applicable to the work and an efficient use of time and implements improvements.
  • Cooperates with the HR Talent & Rewards Director to design programs for high potentials and future leaders.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment and coordinating enrollment.
  • Investigates available training methods and procedures to determine the most effective manner by which to meet specific learning needs; recommend and develop solutions.
  • Coordinates with business units, HR team, and external training vendors to schedule training / educational sessions; manage training program execution.
  • Super User/Admin for LMS. Manages content provider vendor.


Education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in HR, Education or related field; or related combination of education and experience
Minimum of five years in a Training and Development position
Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Training experience is required; experienced working in a dispersed organization
Must have strong facilitation, instructional design, and E-Learning capabilities with examples to substantiate
Thorough understanding of learning principles and instructional design
Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques
Adequate knowledge of learning management software
Outstanding communication and presentation skills
