Oregon Tech is seeking applications for a Title IX and Employee Relations Investigator in the Human Resources Department. This is a 12-month, full-time position located on the Klamath Falls campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The successful applicant primarily responsible for conducting and/or overseeing Title IX and ER investigations on the Oregon Institute of Technology’s (Oregon Tech) main campus in Klamath Falls and, when necessary, on its other campuses. The Investigator serves as a neutral party in reviewing and investigating, with a trauma-informed approach, complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence, including stalking and intimate partner violence. ER investigations may include investigating complaints alleging discrimination or harassment based on protected class status, allegations of violations of other related Oregon Tech policies outlining expectations of conduct of faculty and staff (e.g., policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, workplace violence, etc.), and retaliation. Investigations typically culminate in a detailed, unbiased written report outlining factual findings and a determination of whether material allegations have been substantiated by a preponderance of the information gathered.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of specialization and two (2) years or more of experience conducting investigations, or six (6) years of experience conducting investigations, or a Master’s Degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, law, criminal justice). Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Ability to attain 40 hours of Title IX and/or EO/AA training within first 6 months of hire. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills. Willing and able to travel and work weekends/evenings. Ability to effectively and respectfully function and communicate within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting trauma-informed investigations relating to Title IX and/or sexual assault/sexual violence. Experience conducting investigations alleging discrimination or harassment based on protected class status. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, laws, and guidelines (e.g., Title IX, Title VII, FERPA, Campus Sexual Violence Act (SaVE Act), the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Clery Act, etc.). Ability to demonstrate effective conflict resolution/de-escalation skills and the ability to determine mutually acceptable solutions for difficult problems with competing interests. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
