Position Summary:

The Talent Management Sr Manager, Diversity & Inclusion (internally labelled as Manager) will report to the Head of Talent Management and will support the global enterprise. The incumbent will design, develop, implement and administer talent management D&I strategy and processes. Collaborating across Human Resources and the enterprise to help create and sustain a diverse talent supply and an inclusive culture that continue to differentiate Caterpillar. Reporting to the Talent Management Sr Manager, D&I are a team of Diversity and Inclusion Consultants.  This role interacts with the Executive Office, other Caterpillar Officers and external stakeholders regarding D&I.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

      Managing and leading a team of 2-3 within the HR Talent Management organization

      Engaging, influencing and directing the development of strategies for 14 global ERGs with 10,000 members

      Making a positive impact on enabling an inclusive culture and a work environment where team members work together to deliver results.

      Developing and driving execution of the Diversity and Inclusion strategy, integrating best practices/trends and performing analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing processes and programs

      Effectively integrating D&I within our talent management strategy, performance and rewards, succession planning, employment brand and recruiting to address current and future business needs

      Partnering to design and implement effective analytics and metrics to inform decisions that help optimize business impact

      Providing mentoring and career development to colleagues to strengthen their capabilities, build functional expertise and foster a collaborative, values-driven team culture of high standards, efficient productivity and strong innovation

      Serving as the internal Subject Matter Expert regarding Diversity and Inclusion best practices as well as current trends and innovative new tools and methods.

      Utilizing HR systems and technologies to effectively manage and analyze talent profiles and trends

      Traveling required (< 25% of working time).


Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

      This role requires experience and a proven track record delivering strategic and innovative Talent Management D&I initiatives and process excellence.

      Minimum of 7+ years focused in talent management, D&I, and organizational development, utilizing strengths in change management and project management; including experience with leading high-profile projects, excellent execution of strategies, process improvement, culture and system change, team development, meeting facilitation and design, and communications

      Minimum of 5+ years managing high-performing teams

      Advanced ability to engage and influence large groups with diverse agendas

      Significant experience working in a global business with all levels of employees, top-level executives and diverse stakeholders

      Ability to innovate and challenge current norms to drive change in the organization and work with people of varying backgrounds and organizational levels

      A demonstrated ability to multitask, probe, analyze and problem-solve issues with minimal guidance

      Highly flexible and adaptable to changing structures and priorities

      Solid understanding of the company’s strategy, its financials, how our products and services are produced and go to market. Demonstrate strong operating knowledge of the core Diversity and Inclusion areas along with strategic planning, engagement & retention, L&D, OD, and engagement.

      Ability to effectively apply workforce planning and tools that most effectively ensure our diverse talent is leveraged at its best and highest use.

      Professionally credible and demonstrates a track record of success – as judged by the business – in building the organization's talent depth and quality.

      Advanced analytics capabilities; demonstrated ability to inform, influence and drive results with facts and data

      Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

      Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field


Top Candidates Will Also Have:

      Master’s degree in OD, Human Resources or related field

      Demonstrated ability to provide creative and non-traditional solutions to OD and HR challenges

      Workday experience


The preferred location for this role is Deerfield or Peoria, IL. We will provide relocation assistance & services to those that are eligible.
