Description

The City of Raleigh Human Resources Department is seeking a Classification & Compensation Supervisor. This position is an integral member of the Human Resources Leadership team. The Classification & Compensation Supervisor provides leadership in the areas of classification and compensation to include market pay studies, position classification, and policy development to support the compensation system. This role collaborates with all City Departments to provide a solutions-oriented approach to supporting our City's workforce.

Hiring Range: $66,944.00 - $104,954.00 Commensurate with experience. 



Requirements

Essential Duties:

  • Supervises and provides daily oversight of the City's position classification and compensation; monitors programs and activities for compliance with policies, procedures, agreements and regulations; provides guidance, counseling and technical support for programs, projects and processes.
  • Investigates problems and issues; performs research on trends; analyzes and interprets data and information; develops and implements resolutions.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises policies and procedures to enhance programs and to address issues; develops and maintains management reporting, program documentation, correspondence and presentation materials.
  • Leads project teamwork and activities; oversees and provides project management support.
  • Develops, executes, and oversees organization-wide compensation and classification plan.
  • Researches and compiles market salary survey data, equity studies, analyzing information, and making recommendations.
  • Acts as compensation resource for managers.
  • Conducts classification analysis and providing oversight on special projects and studies as needed.
  • Coordinates the completion and maintenance of job descriptions ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development, business or public administration, five years of professional human resources experience which includes public sector experience and two years of supervisory experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Licensing/Certifications

  • IMPA-SCP, SPHR, CCP preferred
  • A valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License may be required
