OVERVIEW: Serve in a key role, and as the primary person within HR, to create and distribute technical web-based HR communications, including the marketing and branding of HR in partnership with marketing/communications, and to serve as an internal web-based technical expert in managing the HR web portal. In addition, design and facilitate professional development training for staff, as well as develop measurements, assessments, and surveys, familiarity with succession planning and processes, analyze data, and create charts to inform the HR Office and the College.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Communications: Create and deploy a communications schedule and strategy; attention to detail to ensure accuracy, appropriate grammar, including both storytelling and policy-driven writing and communications in alignment with Providence College’s editorial style and standards; utilizing strong written and verbal skills, create effective internal and external strategic communications planning and branding to create and promote the HR office’s online image and messaging, and promote and communicate this work and the mission of the Office of Human Resources; compose and oversee the creation and organization of the content of office policies, procedures, supervisory guides and handbooks, publications, mailings, and the HR newsletter. In collaboration with HR team members, and with support from the College’s Marketing and Communications Office as needed, identify ways to communicate pertinent messages to all campus constituents on various platforms (web-based, social media, live chat, video/vignettes, email, flyers, online and print). Manage office websites, blogs, and other communication tools. Work with the director of web design to ensure portal pages are updated on a regular basis, consistent with the College’s vision; lead social media strategy, create content for social media presence experience with social media and analytics. Assist HR staff with the creation of presentations. 

  2. Market and Publicize HR Programs, Services, and Messages: Assist team members within the office to effectively and efficiently market and publicize HR programs, services, and messages. Partner with Marketing and Communications to provide relevant information and ensure Human Resources is well-represented on College internal and external websites.
     
  3. Organizational Development and Training: Utilizing presentation skills, assist in facilitating regularly scheduled professional development training (e.g., coaching for improved performance, recruiting, interviewing, resume writing and effective interviewing, and diversity and inclusion) to ensure all supervisors, hiring managers, and employees have a strong knowledge that engages, creates, maintains, and supports a campus culture that is an open, respectful environment for all members of the College community. Plan, design, and deliver talent management professional development workshops and initiatives, including those related to organizational design, leadership development, employee engagement, and change management using a variety of different platforms and communication channels (e.g., video, Powerpoint, case studies, role plays).

  4. Collect, Compile, and Analyze Data: In collaboration with HR team members, annually collect and analyze data and information to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the work of the HR team in service to campus constituencies. In consultation and in coordination with the Chief Institutional Effectiveness Officer, assist the HR team in finding effective measures and means for their assessment initiatives, in support of the College’s strategic plan on institutional effectiveness. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity and oversee the collection, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting of confidential employment, demographics, and other HR data.

  5. Succession Planning: Develop and advance succession plans through the identification of internal talent among administrators and staff. Assist in creating and introducing a comprehensive staff development and training program to allow individuals to expand their on-campus career growth and promotional opportunities. Assist in providing career and development advice to employees. Research the necessary skills for specific positions and develop training to enhance the employee’s skill sets to succeed in assigned responsibilities and advancement opportunities. 

 

MARGINAL DUTIES:

  1. Represent the office on related committees, task forces, and/or work groups as requested 
  2. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Two to four years’ experience in higher education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with social media and web editing; Word Press and Adobe Suites experience preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to train, learn, and apply new systems and processes
