Sr. Human Resources Generalist

 UHealthSolutions is an innovative and unique health care consulting and management organization that is affiliated with UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine Division. Position Summary:

This position is responsible for all disciplines of human resources (employee relations, coaching, benefits, training, payroll, state & federal labor compliance, annual performance evaluations, etc.) for UHS employees who work in locations outside the Commonwealth of MA, including a federal correctional facility.  

Under the general oversight of the Human Resource Manager, this position is responsible for the supervision and implementation of a full range of human resources programs and services for employees located in other UHS remote locations. This position is responsible to escalate human resources concerns to the Human Resources Manager when necessary.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Provide clear and effective counsel to all onsite management on all HR issues, including performance feedback, progressive discipline, employee relation concerns, and policy and procedure interpretation and application, and employment law.

  2. Oversee the process of and collaborate with onsite management for recruitment activities (posting, sourcing, interviewing), onboarding activities/ training (P&P orientation, employee benefit overview), career counseling for staff, performance evaluation and merit process for staff in the facility, and HR investigations.

  3. Process staff payroll and be the primary point of contact for all payroll, benefit accrual, and deduction questions.

  4. Identify and escalating all employee security and environmental safety concerns to the onsite Operations Director and/or Human Resources Manager.

  5. In partnership with the Operations Director, assist in employee communications, change management initiatives, and oversee employee engagement.

  6. Conduct annual salary surveys and compile information to present results and recommendations to the Human Resources Manager

  7. Act to facilitate good communication throughout the organization.

  8. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

  9. Attend and participate in meetings, as required.

  10. Comply with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.

  11. Comply with all health and safety regulations and requirements.

  12. Perform other similar and related duties as required or as directed.

     

    Supervision Received:

    Reports to Human Resources Manager.

 

Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources (HR) experience.

  • Ability travel up to 75% of the time, as needed, per business needs, overnight stay required

  • HR experience within the criminal justice or medical field is highly preferred

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus

  • Professional certification (SHRM-CP/SCPP or S/PHR) preferred.

     

Required Skills: 

  • Experience developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative relationships with staff, management and clients.

  • Experience in explaining personnel policies and ensure departmental compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Experience in administering incentive awards programs, performance evaluation programs, employee developments, and leave administration programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to review trends, discuss findings with management, and recommend solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the implementation of HR strategies, programs, and processes in support of the overall business strategy.

  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment law and general HR business programs

  • Proven history of quickly gaining credibility and collaborating collaboratively with business leaders.

  • Demonstrable ability to influence and coach at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Effective organization and planning skills as well as proven analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.

  • Can meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.

As a UHealthSolutions employee working at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner, you must comply not only with all of the policies, rules and regulations of UHealthSolutions, but also with all of the rules and regulations of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner. You will be trained in UHealthSolutions and Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner policies by UHealthSolutions and Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner, respectively. As a condition of employment with UHealthSolutions, it is a requirement that all employees must be able to gain and maintain Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner approval for facility access. 

Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.  All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks. 

Successful completion of the “Introduction to Correctional Techniques”, three week training course is required. 

This position has been identified as test designated.  Incumbents will be subject to urinalysis testing under the BOP Drug Free Workplace Plan.
