Vintage Wine Estates is a dynamic, growing organization seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our team.  The Senior Human Resources Generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, government compliance and training. The position is responsible for the administration of the employee relations program and interfaces with employees and government agencies. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners with employees and management to communicate and consistently apply various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations
  • Manages employee relations issues through employee counseling, conflict management, performance management and any disciplinary action. Performs investigations as needed
  • Administers the performance appraisal process and assists managers with performance improvement plans (PIPs) and employee development plans
  • Conducts stay/exit interviews, summarizes findings and discusses trends/concerns with HR Director
  • Contributes to a positive team culture with solution-focused mindset and outcome-focused mentality; Collaborates readily with others to achieve best possible outcomes
  • Supports HR clients in a way that satisfies their inquiry and better equips them to navigate company processes including the use of self-service tools
  • Participates on the VWE culture development team
  • Tracks trends and developments in assigned functional areas; develops HR metrics and provides recommendations for best practices
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
  • Prepares government reports related to EEO compliance or other HR functions
  • Special projects as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Solid understanding of general HR practices with a deep understanding of generalist/employee relations areas
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment; identify potential issues and make good decisions
  • Personal credibility and impeccable record in working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent employee relations, teamwork, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record to identify and resolve sensitive issues and alert management to potential liability
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/work streams and deliver timely/quality results
  • Ability to manage one’s own time, prioritize responsibilities, keen sense of urgency when necessary
  • Team player and ability to maintain a positive outlook

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a related field; advanced degree a plus
  • Seven+ years of HR generalist/Sr. generalist experience
  • Strong working knowledge of CA and Federal employment law
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, preferably ADP
