HR Business Partners (HRBP's) are critical to building the capacity of HR team and the organization as a whole.  HRBP's have a strong understanding of Human Resources management and experience implementing, executing and delivering on innovative HR solutions. HRBP's use independent judgement and high degrees of responsibility while working to solve complex, high stakes employee relations matters.  They partner with leaders to develop and execute HR strategies focused on equity and diversity, employee relations, culture, talent management, full cycle recruitment including improving quality/volume of the talent pipeline and workforce planning.

HRBP's understand business priorities and translate them into the highest impact work. HRBP's take a leading role when working closely with local and City wide HR professionals to look around corners with data-driven recommendations that improve performance, retention and the employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, social or organizational behavior, business, public administration or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years' relevant human resources experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist with full-cycle recruitment responsibility. A combination of closely related education, certification and or closely related HR experience may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exceptional listening skills and ability to relate to, influence, and coach employees of all levels in the organization
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different divisions in order to integrate HR and business strategies
  • Proven ability to diagnose issues and drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative
  • Proven knowledge of principles and practices related to effective human resources management
  • At least one year as a human resources representative in a highly unionized environment
  • Competent using the Microsoft Suite
  • Change management experience
  • Strong project management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; high quality document preparation and presentation skills
