What You Will Do


Representing the Baystate Health System, our Sr. Director, Chief Diversity Officer serves as the subject matter expert for the managers and employees on matters of diversity within the organization, and within the community. This individual will have responsibility for overall development and implementation of Baystate Health's enterprise wide Diversity and Inclusion framework.   Our Sr. Director will work closely with all entities and departments in ensuring diversity and inclusion practice implications are considered in all aspects of our business. Works to achieve our goals as an employer and provider of choice among all the communities and cultures we serve and employ. Reporting to our VP, Team Member Engagement, the CDO will serve as a member of the HR Executive team. 

Additional Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leads and directs the work of the D+I team in their efforts to implement strategies, policies and tactics which advance the mission of Baystate Health to be culturally competent in diversity and inclusion.
  • Helps to shape and promote the partnership and influence of the Organizational Resource Groups
  • Represents Baystate Health on community Boards, and in various community events
  • Enhances employee engagement through promotion of an environment of inclusiveness
  • Develops metrics and scorecards to communicate progress on diversity initiatives and performance measures
  • Identifies, directs and/or develops diversity education programs for the health system


What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) plus:
  • 6+ years diversity and inclusion experience in a large organizational and/or functional business unit; 3+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Preferences: Spanish speaking a plus



  • Proven ability to work effectively with multi-cultural/ethnic/diverse populations. Significant depth of knowledge and scope of experience in project management and change management.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, interdependent manner with colleagues and clients across the healthcare system.
  • Demonstrated experience in executing strategic/tactical plans to meet business objectives around building a culture of diversity in a large organization.
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of projects simultaneously and function autonomously to meet the needs of a diverse client base.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to gather interpret and organize information for preparing and providing appropriate analytics on the efficacy of the diversity and inclusion initiative.
  • Ability to manage a small team, prioritize initiatives, develop process requirements and communication plans; performing risk assessments for opportunity identification and implementation of change.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including experience in developing and delivering presentations to senior management.
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills and ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Must be recognized by peers as a leader and subject matter expert in all matters of diversity and inclusion.
  • Strong influencing skills, project management and change management skills
