We are seeking a Sr. Benefits Analyst to join our Northwest Permanente Benefits team. The Sr. Benefits Analyst will be responsible for managing all Leave of Absence processe, will be responsible for the coordination and administration associated with leaves to ensure compliance with Northwest Permanente policies and federal and state regulations. This role provides instructions, guidance, and customer support to the employee, managers and HR business partners and will provide best practice advice and recommendations.  This position will serve as the subject matter expert for Northwest Permanente employee and managers for all Leave of Absences.

Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Administers full cycle federal, state and NWP leave administration, disability management, ADA case management, worker compensation.

  • Responsible for the coordination efforts between all parties in the leave of absence process, compliance, third party vendor management, and customer service to the employee, management and HR business partners.
  • Assist the Benefits team with benefit administration, day-to-day inquires, life events, open enrollment, benefit billing, new hire benefit orientation, etc.
  • Serve as a benefit systems expert understanding the complex set up and administration of various benefits plans within the HRIS.
  • Analyze current processes, identify and implement process improvements where appropriate. Partner with payroll, HRIS, HR and other internal teams to ensure streamlined processes and communication.
  • Assist with other special projects as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related field or four (4) years of equivalent experience in a directly related field.

Minimum Work Experience

  • Minimum seven (7) years of benefits and HR experience with three (3) years of leave of absence management, return to work programs, disability management, ADA case management or workers’ compensation.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with full cycle Leave of Absence administration
  • Solid understanding of STD, LTD and other benefit plans
  • Experience working with injuries/illness and physical limitations
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to leave of absence management, including but not limited to FMLA, OFLA, ADA disability benefits, workers’ compensation and return to work
  • Basic understanding of regulatory requirements and workplace safety principles
  • Experience with Benefits Administration to include medical and dental plans, health savings account, flexible spending accounts, life, AD&D, short and long term disability
  • Knowledge of various laws such as ERISA, FMLA, OFLA, ACA, etc.
  • Proficient with MS Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Experience with time and attendance systems for purposes of leave of absence tracking
  • Familiarity with automated file transfers to vendors
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Extensive knowledge of HRIS systems/benefit tracking systems

Preferred Education

  •  Master’s Degree in Human Resources, business administration or related field
  • Certified Benefit Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) status
  • Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR)

Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience with Benefits administration using Ultimate Software
