The team member development manager is responsible for planning, designing and implementing development programs that support overall company and divisional goals. Researches new development techniques to meet the changing needs of the organization and ensures training materials and curriculum is up to date and effective. Focus efforts on continuous improvement of ongoing development programs.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment
  • Proposes training and development programs and objectives
  • Develops effective materials and curriculum utilizing a variety of media with input of subject matter experts
  • Keeps current on resources and able to connect the appropriate resources with the desired need / outcome 
  • Coaches and trains supervisors, managers and others involved in employee development efforts 
  • Involved in planning and delivering development for all team members (craft, functional, professional and executive)
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates and orders supplies for employee training and development events
  • Provides hands on assistance in developing all areas of training and development curriculum
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources 
  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results
  • Modifies programs as needed


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience in corporate, military or other training / education 
  • Understanding of curriculum preparation, in order to obtain the most effective means of delivering development to adult learners
  • Knowledge of how adults learn and retain training and development
  • Approaches the position in a positive and high energy manor
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Capability of performing duties and making business decisions independently
  • Leadership skills necessary to achieve departmental and corporate objectives
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal / written) skills
  • Possess active listening skills 
  • Highly self-motivated and independent with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines
  • Work effectively as a team member and with members of management
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Job Functions:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to operate standard business office equipment and lift up to 20 pounds
  • Travel by personal vehicle and air required
  • Ability to move over rough terrain on and around project sites
  • Periodic participation in and attendance at company events and meetings
