BASIC FUNCTIONS

The Sr. PHRC serves as a consultant to physicians and physician leadership on human resource-related issues. The successful Sr. PHRC acts as change agent, assessing and anticipating HR-related needs. Working proactively with the HR team and service area leadership, the SR. PHRC seeks to develop and deliver integrated solutions. The Sr. PHRC formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to physicians and physician leaders that reflects the business objectives of MAPMG. The Sr. PHRC maintains an effective level of business literacy about the service area’s operating objectives and culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes trends and metrics in the service area and in partnership with the HR team develops initiatives and delivers solutions.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partners with CHRO and Deputy General Counsel as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to physicians and physician leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with physicians to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Serves as the single point of contact and subject matter expert in the delivery of Physician HR services for the District of Columbia and Southern Maryland (DCSM) service area.
  • Manage, direct, and evaluate the work of others in the areas of administrative and logistical HR support as needed.
  • Consults with PHRC peers and CHRO to ensure consistent application and implementation of physician HR strategies, policies, and programs. Assumes a lead role on projects as assigned by the CHRO and/or Physician in Chief for DCSM.
  • Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior service to others.
  • Local travel in the District of Columbia and Suburban Maryland required.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Human Resources or related field of study is required.
  • Master’s degree in HR or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated progressive HR leadership experience (7 - 10 years).
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification.
  • Effective leadership, project management, and consulting skills.
  • Proven track record of working successfully with stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, stakeholders, and other departments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Ultipro or other HRMS
  • Experience with clinical information systems a plus.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies as needed.
