Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Human Resources with a Human Resources Generalist background to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

The Senior Manager, Human Resources role is responsible for managing general Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations issues and strategies within the geographical and functional areas of responsibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Talent Management. Actively driving organizational development through effective workforce planning, recruiting, talent/performance management and succession planning initiatives.

  • Due Diligence. Working closely with Corporate Development, Legal, HR and other departments on due diligence in any and all potential acquisitions or divestitures.

  • Labor Law. Keeping abreast on legal environment and labor law updates, educating company management and employees as appropriate and advising management on needed actions.

  • Employee Relations. Assisting management with appropriate employee relations efforts and policy including employee investigations, employee counseling, discipline and terminations.

  • Human Resources Legal Compliance. Maintaining HR related legal compliance with regards to DOT Drug and Alcohol testing and providing appropriate training and resources for personnel compliance.

  • Budget Management. Developing and presenting operating budget and operating within appropriated amounts.

  • Affirmative Action and EEO. Leading company compliance with governmental reporting requirements including any related to the Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) reporting, desk audits, investigations, etc.

  • Labor Relations. Leading Labor Relations initiatives including negotiations, grievances, arbitrations and collective bargaining processes and ensuring that all pertinent parties are informed of changes and/or issues as they arise.

  • Collective Bargaining Agreement. Interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements with respect to grievances, wages and salaries, employee welfare, healthcare, pensions, union and management practices as well as other contractual language.

  • And other duties as assigned or necessary.



Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required.

  • MBA would be a plus.

  • 15+ years of HR experience along with a strong generalist background with specialized experience in policy development, compensation, benefits, etc. a plus

  • 5+ years direct management experience.

  • 5+ years experience in strategic labor relations and management experience required.

  • Up to 30% travel

  • Willingness to work in Breiningsville (Allentown), PA for the first 3-5 years then relocate to Houston,TX for the remaining of career.

Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:

  • Incumbent must possess strong knowledge of labor law, collective bargaining and employment related law, both federal and state, along with a sound working knowledge of statistical concepts, methods and data collection procedures.

  • Effective interactions and influence with all levels of the organization, including the Executive Team.

  • In order to be successful in this position, one must have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

  • Very strong organization skills are essential as well as highly established analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • One must have excellent presentation skills and be able to appropriately and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

  • In this position, it is critical for the incumbent to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

  • One should have strong leadership skills with a personal commitment to integrity, teamwork, achievement of departmental and business results and a strong “customer” (i.e., employee) focus.

Must be seen as a successor to the Sr. Director and ultimately the Sr. Vice President of Human Resources. You must work independently and be able to exercise tact, discretion, and professionalism when dealing with internal and external customers, and handling sensitive and confidential information.
