Position Summary


The Sr. Manager, HR Operations is at the heart of people transactions at Cepheid and responsible for directing and supporting the ongoing activities of the HR Operations team and the related systems, processes and policies including benefits, immigration, mobility, compliance, onboarding and off-boarding of associates, leaves of absences and other associate, life-cycle related programs. This position will work closely with the global HR staff, including HR business partners, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and Payroll. This is a solutions-oriented role, requiring collaborative and innovative leadership responsible for building and developing a positive working environment for the HR Operations team as well as the global HR team. The Sr. Manager, HR Operations will have a passion for continuous process improvement and problem solving, along with the ability and desire to coach and mentor a team looking to get to the next level of performance and success and beyond.


Position Responsibilities

1. Bring your vision, strategy and passion for people, systems and processes to lead the team that manages associate data and transactions with streamlined operations and a positive associate experience.

2. Manage and cultivate HR interactions and relationships cross-functionally with other teams as necessary, including Payroll/Finance, IT, Legal, as well as other members of the global HR Team.

3. Oversee and support the members and activities of the HR Operations team responsible for the delivery and support of benefits, immigration, mobility, compliance, onboarding and off-boarding of associates, leaves of absences and other associate life-cycle related programs, while also being comfortable as a “hands-on” manager and willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.

4. Promote and direct the organization's use of Workday, HR processes and programs through collaborative relationship management across the organization

5. Support managers & associates with self-service transactions in Workday and other transactions initiated and processed outside of the system.

6. Promote continuous improvement in the development of the HR Operations team through leadership, guidance and education.

7. Guide management and associate actions by researching, developing, writing and updating policies, procedures, methods and guidelines.

8. Ensure HR compliance with all policies, regulations and requirements in all domestic jurisdictions and establish and support process for maintaining HR policies globally.

9. Partner with Internal Audit function on SOX audit compliance processes.

10. Partner closely with the Accounting/Payroll department to ensure accurate and timely transmission of data.

11. Ensure the confidentiality, accuracy, security and timely maintenance of HR data.

12. Partner with the Danaher HR Operations team to ensure we are maximizing our use of technology in streamlining people operations and scaling with the complex nature of our growing workforce.

13. Support the Talent Management, Performance Management and Talent Acquisiton processes which are executed and administered in Workday and Taleo.

14. Define, track and analyze HR operations metrics and establish goals and KPIs to monitor and improve performance.



1. Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development or related field. HR Certifications (SHRM, PIHRA, etc.) in operational areas preferred.

2. 8+ years in HR roles of increasing responsibility with at least 3+ years managing or leading an HR Operations and Systems function leveraging a shared services model.

3. Minimum 3 years in a Workday administration and system management role, preferably with implementation experience.

4. Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruiting process workflows.

5. Strong Microsoft Excel and presentation software skills.

6. Experience with global aspects of human resources including requirements and regulations in countries other than the United States.

7. Ability to provide leadership, work collaboratively on teams, and consult effectively and independently with all levels and functional areas of the organization.

8. Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and enable scalability and growth for the company; must be able to effectively manage both ambiguity and aggressive timelines for projects

9. Commitment to continuous process improvement in people strategies and initiatives.

10. Demonstrated project/program management skills with the ability to focus on details.

11. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse team, including coaching, development, and goal setting.

12. Excellent organization and prioritization capabilities.

13. Effective presentation and communication skills - written, verbal and listening.
