Do you have a passion for Human Resources and for making a difference in the lives of others? We have a perfect opportunity for you! Volunteers of America, Homestead at Anoka and Anoka Rehab and Living Center is looking for a HR Director.

We need you to lead our HR department through practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture to improve quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. You will also work with the development of the leadership team.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees and manages the work of reporting Human Resources staff. Encourages the ongoing development of the Human Resources staff.
  2. Oversees and manages the maintenance of the employee personnel files and ensure compliance with State mandated regulations.
  3. Oversee the recruitment function; assist as needed with the process of posting opening internally and placement of ads, job fairs and other recruiting resources; ensure all Department Managers are equipped with interview questions that focus on the essential functions of the position. Conduct interviews as necessary.
  4. Oversee the staffing function; coordinate with staffing personnel and department managers in the hiring process.
  5. Oversee the Workers’ Compensation practices.
  6. Assist Department Supervisors with employee relations issues, including verbal and written warnings. Assess department structures and make recommendations.
  7. Facilitate training and development programs for facility leadership.
  8. Provide benefits orientation, enroll new employees in benefits plans, and coordinate annual open enrollment.
  9. In coordination with the Executive Director, create action plan based on the Annual Employee Satisfaction Survey.
  10. In collaboration with the Regional Human Resources Manager, conduct wage and benefit surveys.
  11. Ensure that the Affirmative Action Plan is implemented and systems are in place to track all applicants, interviews and hires. All annual compliance reports are completed on time.

Requirements



  1. Minimum five (5) years Human Resources and administrative experience.
  2. Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members.
  5. Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides facility leadership and direction.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Internet.
  7. Proven ability to manage multiple projects to a deadline.
  8. Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  9. Attentive to detail.
  10. Strong organizational skills.
  11. High degree of professionalism; able to deal with extremely confidential information.
  12. Works well independently and with minimal supervision.
