The Senior HR Generalist (SHRG), as a strategic partner, serves as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues and acts as an employee champion and change agent. SHRG assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, communicates proactively and seeks to develop integrated solutions. SHRG formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. SHRG maintains an effective level of business literacy about the agency’s financial position, its culture and its competition. SHRG may include international and/or supervisory responsibilities.

What we expect from you

• Solid understanding of the network and individual agency strategy, managerial function, company policies, vision, values and structure
• Ownership of designated employee populations. Maintain strong relationship with agency Executive Committee and managers
• Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
• Provide day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
• Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal department as needed/required
• Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and talent planning including the performance appraisal process
• Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs. Evaluate and monitor success of training programs.
• Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies
• Assist international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters as required
• Partner to place talent throughout the network and create new career opportunities
• Champion companywide initiatives and work on various projects as assigned

Requirements

• B.A./B.S. degree in communications, liberal arts, business or human resources
• Minimum of ten years of human resources related experience
• Masters degree, PHR or SPHR preferred
• Experience in advertising, media or communications industries preferred
• Ability to effectively navigate a large network with multiple business lines
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws or regulations governing human resources activities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
