In concert with and under the leadership of the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, the Sr. Director, Human Resources will oversee the organization’s human resources functions, including recruitment, hiring, records management, compliance and policy review. The Sr. Director, Human Resources originates and leads practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce, all in support of the organization's mission and vision.



1. Actively manages the organization’s recruitment, hiring, orientation, development and evaluation processes
2. Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage, salary and benefits program
3. Supervises benefits and payroll vendors
4. Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters
5. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance
6. Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
7. Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed
8. Coordinates and conducts exit interviews
9. Consults with the Foundation’s General Counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters
10. Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
11. Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization
12. Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs

The Sr. Director, Human Resources will be a seasoned and mature leader with 5-10 years experience in human resource management (for-profit or not-for-profit).


1. Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive human resources program
2. Strong leadership, management, negotiation, relationship building and teambuilding experience with demonstrated success
3. Excellent internal and external collaboration skills, with an ability to work in a dynamic and creative team; personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission; innovative thinker with a commitment to excellence and a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5. Excellent technology skills; strong analytical skills, able to assess, track, and report business results
6. Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within a fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and goals while focusing on measurable outcomes that drive strategic success in complex programs and systems

Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree preferred. 5-10 years of experience in human resource management, training or comparable proficiency; SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential a plus.

Some domestic travel may be required
