The UNC System Office located in Chapel Hill, NC invites applications for the position of Senior Classification and Compensation Consultant. The position serves as a subject matter expert and resource with respect to compensation, classification, and general human resources matters for employees exempt from the Human Resources Personnel Act (EHRA) faculty employees; coordinates and reviews faculty salary adjustments proposed by the constituent institutions; develops and maintains job classifications and titles in conjunction with institutional research/data & analytics; researchs, develops, and maintains salary ranges using market data sources; collaborates with the UNC System Academic Affairs division in developing, implementing, and supporting faculty human resources policies and programs; collaborates with institutional research/data analytics on EHRA workforce reporting and analytics; maintains faculty retention fund; and collaborates with the UNC System Academic Affairs division on coordinating the award process for title faculty.

Requirements

Minimum requirements include: Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

Prefer: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three to five years of professional level experience in a higher education environment, with any combination of expertise in classification, compensation, faculty affairs, faculty appointments, or academic human resources.
  • experience working with faculty processes and procedures;
  • experience administering compensation.

Competencies: 

  • Professional knowledge of Faculty policies, tenure code, and compensation practices.
  • Demonstrated consultation skills with all levels of employees to include management, Faculty, and administrators on a variety of Faculty Human Resources issues.
  • Demonstrated success in both oral and written communications in the areas of HR policies, procedures, training, and decision to include the ability to alter communication style depending on audience and the situation.
  • Program/Project Management experience and the demonstration of success in managing either a program or portion of a large project through hands on participation. Ability to both lead and demonstrate individual results.
