The Recruiter / HR Generalist position is responsible for interviewing, testing, and referring applicants for a wide range of positions throughout the company. This position must possess considerable skill in interviewing techniques, basic knowledge of all of the company's functions, and an extensive knowledge of personnel policy and procedure as well as federal and state laws regarding employment practices. Key to success in this position will be an emphasis on quality, productivity and standards through goal attainment, and the recruitment and development of a high-performance workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Manage recruitment of staff including job descriptions and postings, phone screening of employment candidates, and coordinating on-site interviews
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to determine best recruiting process
  • Conduct reference and employment checks for employment candidates
  • Acts as a liaison with recruiting agencies and employment testing firms
  • Complete onboarding and orientation processes for new employees and familiarizing new employees with company policies and procedures
  • Review and update employee handbook and other HR Related rules and policies for the organization
  • Maintain knowledge of government regulations and legal requirements affecting human resources
  • Coordinate employee safety and wellness programs as well as activities to boost employee morale
  • Responsible for updating employment and contractor files as certifications and clearances expire
  • Maintain a documented system of policies and procedures for recruitment & onboarding
  • Maintain an orderly file system
  • Track and report monthly metrics for all recruiting processes
  • Conduct exit interviews as necessary
  • Process requests for paid time off and reporting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources and recruiting
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
  • Effectively manage multiple and concurrent projects within timelines given
  • Communication, relationship management, and organization skills are essential
  • Strong computer skills and experience in a fast-paced corporate environment are also required
  • Writing and editing skills are a must
  • Dependable, takes initiative, takes pride in work
  • Work independently and within a team on special, nonrecurring, and ongoing projects
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 

Requirements

Education &/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent generalist human resources experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an organization
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred
