Description
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for day to day payroll-related functions, including semi-monthly payroll processing, time & attendance, provider PTO tracking, and compensation plans. The Specialist will also manage tasks associated with the practice’s related tax filings, payroll metrics, report writing, open enrollment, and year end compliance.

Essential Functions:
Payroll
• Ensure timely and accurate semi-monthly and ad-hoc payroll processing. Verify the accuracy of the approved time and attendance timecards prior to executing the payroll process.
• Utilize tracking system to prepare and complete all payroll paperwork necessary including status changes, salary adjustments, and deductions are accurate for each semi-monthly payroll.
• Manage the day-to-day payroll function and respond/research any data requests, payroll discrepancies, supervisor inquiries, and/or employee payroll and timekeeping issues.
• Generate payroll metrics including compensation plan analytics for senior management.
• Complete all verification of employment requests.
• Manage any payroll/time keeping related projects such as conversions and/or upgrades with recommendations on how to use utilize ADP’s software systems to the fullest capacity.

Compliance
• Ensure compliance with various state payroll laws and regulations.
• Research and respond to payroll tax notices, monitor payments of payroll taxes, and file any state specific standalone tax or disability requirements.
• Managing the preparation of annual W-2 and related tax filings, as well as any other regulatory requirements (401K, ACA, etc.)
• Maintain written payroll procedures, processes, internal controls, and audits with updates, as needed.

Benefits
• Assist with the Open Enrollment season as it relates to changes with new plans, employee elections and contributions for the plan year.
• Work with Finance to transition the provider leave tracking system process to HR.
• Create and modify the benchmarking analysis with alike local health care organizations with recommendations to senior leadership ensure competiveness with compensation and best practices.

Other
• Provides back-up for any of the other HR roles/functions within the department.
• Performs other duties assigned which are substantially similar in scope, nature or character to those outlined above.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, or related field required. 
• 5-7 years’ of relevant ADP payroll experience (WorkforceNow preferred) with 100+ employees.
• Advanced knowledge ADP systems reporting and time/attendance software. 
• Good knowledge of multi-state payroll with expertise in payroll regulations. 
• Relevant payroll experience in a health care organization, preferred.
• Expertise in mandated garnishments.
• Ability to pay attention to detail, organized, set priorities and multi-task in a fast pace environment. Works well under pressure in a fast-pace environment.
• Must possess excellent skills in problem solving, decision making, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
• Must be a team player and be able to work independently with daily responsibilities.
• Strong communication (written/oral), interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Demonstrate exemplary professionalism in handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ADP/HRIS software(s), Internet applications, standard office equipment, with Adobe product experience, a plus.
