Part-time Payroll Specialist (20 hrs per week)

The Part-time Payroll Specialist will lead the payroll process working with both the Human Capital and the Finance departments. The candidate must have payroll processing experience and have an understanding of CA and NY employment pay laws.

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:

• Primary responsibility is to manage the full cycle payroll process for Hall Capital and its subsidiaries, including:
• Using time and attendance systems to facilitate and manage the timecard and PTO process 
• Assist in 401K reconciliation and transmission
• Prepare payroll journals and other financial information
• Process manual checks and retroactive pay for employees as needed
• Work with Paylocity to resolve system issues
• Additional tasks include:
• Provide management reporting, including headcount, overtime and PTO
• Prepare annual compensation letters, review ACA Form1095-Cs and W-2s for accuracy and distribution to employees
• Assist management with compensation and headcount forecasting
• Assist Human Capital with reconciliation of benefit invoices 
• Assist with Worker’s Compensation and CPA audits
• Other projects and responsibilities as they arise

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
• 3+ years of experience in a similar role, some post high school education preferred
• Experience with Paylocity, working with 401k vendors are a plus
• Strong accounting background is a plus
• Experience and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
• Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
• Superior interpersonal skills and ability to positively interact with all levels of the firm
• Able to prioritize and respond quickly to immediate, time-sensitive requests
• Ability to work effectively and productively with others on a team 
• Possess excellent organization skills 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong grammar, spelling, composition, and proofreading abilities
• Be flexible and willing to work until the task is complete
• A background in the financial services industry is a plus
• Compensation is commensurate with experience
