Part-Time HR Generalist

Arc Human Capital is excited to announce that as the result of an expanding contract we need to put an HR representative onsite two days per week with one of our clients in Landover Maryland. The two days are to be determined but will be weekdays and the work hours (also to be determined) will be between 8am and 6pm. We also expect another 4-8 hours per week to be worked remotely. For a total of 2.5-3 days per week.

The position is paid on an hourly basis, is bonus eligible, and we’ll pay for your annual national SHRM membership! The hourly rate is between $45 - $55 per hour. There is the possibility of doing work (onsite or remote) for other AHC clients as workload requires and as your interest and skills fit.

You will report directly to the owner of the company, a long time HR practitioner, who possesses multiple senior level HR certifications and a Master’s degree, but is smart enough to know he doesn’t know it all and will be looking to benefit from your experience, creativity, active input, and suggestions. We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic, business professionals who have specialized in human resources to support our growing firm! Examples of required support include, but are not limited to:

1.       Creation/edit of forms, policies, and programs

a.       Examples include charity donation match programs, Employment Applications, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Descriptions, etc.

b.       Informing Client management of any out of compliance situations and collaborate to make compliant

2.       Identification, vetting, and implementation of any HR Information Systems (Performance Management, Applicant Tracking, etc.)

3.       Identification, vetting, and selection of vendors which might include sourcing options, attending meetings, creating assessment criteria/comparison matrixes, and reference checking.

4.       Collaborating with company leadership on annual benefits Open Enrollment

5.       Activities related to, and attendance at, all-employee “town hall” style, or department meetings.

6.       Response to government agencies/audits, auditors, or legal action

7.       Ad hoc, as needed email/phone Q & A support

8.       New Hire Orientation and onboarding – initial creation and subsequent delivery

9.       Assist with background check process (reviewing results, following FCRA pre-adverse action, and adverse action requirements, periodic re-verifications, etc.)

10.     Termination processing

11.     Manager guidance – assistance with leaves of absence, employee performance issues, counseling/discipline, applicant interview preparation, etc.

12.     Phone screen/interviewing, coordinating interviews of candidates for open positions

13.     Extending pre-approved employment offers to selected candidates

14.     Being informed and assist with remaining compliant with, changes such as introduction of new state/federal labor posters, when company growth causes them to be subject to new labor laws, etc.

15.     Generation of content for company social media platforms

16.     Conducting annual “stay interviews”.

17.     Creation of content for company career pages

18.     Introduction of updated or new policies or procedures

19.     Informing management of new and or changing laws, policies, rules as they pertain to employees, hiring practices, wages, etc. on a federal, state, or local level.

20.     Review HR record keeping practices and make suggestions for compliance and best practices.

21.     Review other HR practices such as work eligibility (I-9) etc.

Requirements

We’re looking for an experienced generalist who likes to operate independently but appreciates the comfort of knowing there are multiple senior-level seasoned professionals behind them for support if needed.

We’d love to find someone who has 6-8 years of recent HR experience, speaks at least some Spanish, has experience working in a blue-collar environment, ideally is SHRM-CP or PHR certified, and appreciates the flexibility of part-time work and the comfort of business casual attire. Must also be able to navigate throughout the clients' multi-level, non-elevator-equipped, location.
