Summary

The National Inclusion & Diversity Manager will provide management and strategic leadership and support for Seyfarth Shaw’s Inclusion and Diversity initiatives under the leadership of the Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer.  Focus will be on pushing culture change, increasing inclusive leadership and engagement, executing education programs and driving results for the firm’s National, Affinity-based, and local office Inclusion & Diversity-based programs and events, and liaising with recruiting, talent development, marketing and business development in this process.

 

Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities

 The National Inclusion & Diversity Manager will support the Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer in leading, developing and managing Inclusion & Diversity programs for Seyfarth and managing activities of the firm’s Inclusion and Diversity Action Team (DIAT). This includes advancing the firm’s commitment to inclusion and diversity, and designing and implementing networking, mentorship, sponsorship, and both formal and informal training programs. Responsibilities include:

 
  • Seyfarth Shaw Inclusion & Diversity firm strategy development and strategic goal implementation through project management and coordination among the executive committee, DIAT network and relevant Firm leadership and teams under the leadership and direction of the Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer.
  • Strategic and Advisory management of National (DIAT) through regular support and guidance, advise and manage local Inclusion and Diversity Action Teams, including the implementation of strategic business plans; strategic planning of sponsored events and programs to achieve increased efficiency and effectiveness and sense of community; and management of regularly scheduled meetings and associated follow-up. Additional managerial support provided to Affinity Groups through contribution to their strategic agenda and individual groups’ internal growth objectives, such as pipeline building and retention, and external community engagement goals, i.e. national conference planning; goal setting; support; and analysis of program effectiveness.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external communication efforts promoting the Seyfarth brand, message and client services related to inclusion and diversity, including preparation of annual reports, scorecards, surveys, social media, and client or community requests in collaboration within marketing and business development, talent development, human resources and recruiting offices.
  • Management of the national diversity and inclusion-related recognition nomination responses and subsequent accolade tracking and announcements with marketing & business development team.
  • Manager will liaise with marketing, business development and talent development on programs and initiatives to integrate inclusion & diversity, including the Triad mentoring program, the coaching program for women income partners, quarterly talent review updates, etc.
  • Serve as the internal inclusion and diversity liaison for attorneys, marketing, business development, and talent development offices preparing for pitch/client inclusion and diversity meetings and/or external interviews requesting talking points regarding the firm’s inclusion and diversity initiatives and/or metrics.
  • Maintain and grows relationships with national, local, and specialized inclusion and diversity organizations, professional development organizations, and bar associations as is relevant to the fulfillment of the office of inclusion and diversity’s strategic action plan and goals.

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business, Human Resources, Communication, or related field preferred. Master’s degree in Organizational Development highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5-8 years management experience desired, preferably within a professional services firm, with strategic, program management, and inclusion & diversity experience.
  • Experience with SharePoint preferred.
  • Advanced organizational, administrative, and time management skills. Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor progress made on firm’s inclusion and diversity goals by utilizing metrics, feedback from internal affinity groups, and maintaining and actively monitoring diversity hiring and attrition statistics required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20%.
