POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible, under the guidance of the SVP, Director of HR, for developing and driving the talent management and leadership development strategies, tools and processes to meet the current and future strategic objectives at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.  These areas include talent acquisition, performance management, training and development, and succession planning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Talent Acquisition

  • Manages full cycle recruitment (post, source, prescreen, schedule, background, references, offer, onboarding).
  • Partners with managers on the strategies for sourcing, interviewing and selection for all new and open positions.
  • Develops and manages recruitment marketing strategy for the organization.
  • Oversees and facilitates New Hire Orientation sessions.

Performance Management

  • Oversees the annual performance management process that focuses employee’s efforts on the achievement of goals and objectives and includes mid and year-end reviews.
  • Evaluates and assesses the institution’s current competencies to ensure aligned for future needs.
  • Provides coaching and support to managers in the creation of robust employee development plans.
  • Manages the performance management system including current position descriptions and tools to evaluate performance.

 Training and Development

  • Designs, develops and implements the Leadership Training Series that addresses the knowledge, skill and capability needs of managers and leaders.
  • Assists in the development of training programs that address specific department needs.
  • Implements a learning management platform/system

 Succession Planning

  • Designs, develops and implements a talent review process that is needed to identify succession and create an internal bench of top talent.
  • Conducts individual leadership, career and talent assessments as needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with HCM provider on the implementation of the Talent platform which includes ensuring appropriate talent processes are designed for the system and the successful education and training of managers.
  • Collects data, metrics and reporting from the HCM to develop insights on talent pools and inform future leadership initiatives.
  • Establishes strong business partnerships with leaders and managers to execute talent strategies. 
  • Keeps abreast of best practices and serve as subject matter expert.
  • Manages full end-to-end process for the Summer Internship/Externship Program.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferable with major in Human Resources or Organizational Development
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Strong customer focus and orientation
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills required
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Independent thinker, possess strong organizational and project management skills
  • Results oriented and “hands-on” approach
  • Experience in a museum, arts/culture organization and/or non-profit agency a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. 
  • Experience implementing Ultimate Software “UltiPro” talent modules a plus
