VCU Health System's Human Resources department is seeking a full time. The Manager of Talent Acquisition is responsible for the development and implementation of a centralized recruitment and selection process that is efficient and effective in acquiring talent for varied positions in an academic medical center setting. The Manager will develop a team approach that is focused on partnering with HR Service Lines to meet the overall recruitment needs of the organization and will use metrics to evaluate efficiencies, assess quality of work, and address challenges in meeting the needs of the organization. Ensures equitable employment practices and maintains compliance with VCUHS policies and practices and state/ federal regulations related to employment practices.  


  • Manages and develops the Talent Acquisition team
  • Assigns and prioritizes workloads based on requisitions and functional recruitment assignments.
  • Evaluates team performance, counsels team members and recommends appropriate corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Develops goals and objectives for team and ensures short and long term goals are met.
  • Provides ongoing training for the team in processes and procedures.
  • Routinely provides feedback to team.
  • Holds team accountable for determined performance metrics
  • Take actions to close gaps.
  • Explores the best recruitment and staffing practices in the market and implements appropriate best practices in the organization.
  • Sets the social media communication strategy
  • May conduct job interviews for managerial job positions (or key jobs in the organization)
  • Ensures recruiting processes are executed effectively and all requisitions are addressed on a timely basis.
  • Identify how to segment recruitment work according to the needs of the role and business area
  • Continuously review the execution of recruiting processes and recruiting metrics to evaluate efficiency, Assess quality and address challenges
  • Manage the recruitment budget including costs related to advertising and job fairs
  • Expand community relationships for diversity within the recruiting function
  • Partners with Employee Relations to determine recruitment strategies that support enterprise Affirmative Action Plans.
  • Works closely with HR Service Lines, hiring managers and team to identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance the recruitment and selection functions.
  • Identifies, designs, and implements new processes for continually improving the hiring manager and applicant experience.
  • Identifies opportunities for streamlining and continuing to automate processes when possible.
  • Reviews, analyzes and develops processes and training in response to new policies and regulatory agency (e.g. OFCCP) requirements.
  • Sets performance metrics, analyze data and recruitment trends, and develops action plans
  • Maintains effective working relationships with HR Service Lines, hiring departments, and team.
  • Establishes strong lines of communication to ensure constant understanding of needs, services and expectations.
  • Completes monthly reports for HR leadership and other organizational leaders as requested.



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field
  • Certified Healthcare Recruiter, if not certified at time of hire, then required to complete within first year of employment
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification or SHRM-Certified Professional
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in human resources with at least two (2) years' experience in recruitment
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a supervisor or lead role


  • Demonstrated quantitative analytical skills.
  • Senior Professional Human Resources or SHRM-SCP certification
  • LEAN Six Sigma green belt preferred
  • Eight - ten (8-10) years' experience in human resources
  • Five (5) years' experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience in process improvement or process redesign strongly preferred
