Under the direction of the Labor Relations Director is accountable for labor relations activities, strategy and development. Provides support in the areas of contract negotiations, contract administration and labor-management relations; manages grievances; administers discipline procedures; acts as “second-chair” in labor negotiations under supervision of Labor Relations Director. This role will also be responsible for managing the Company’s immigration program and provide support and services for candidates on a global basis as well as monitoring federal and state employment, labor and immigration regulations to ensure compliance. May also cover for Labor Relations Director in their absence. Job requires at least 25% travel.

  • Support and implement labor relations strategies that are aligned with business units, corporate initiatives and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Work with operations, payroll, safety, human resources and other functions to ensure the terms of the several collective bargaining agreements are properly adhered to and executed.
  • Responsible for managing the negotiation of memorandum of agreements and the resolution of grievances between the company and the union, doing so in partnership with company leadership, union leadership and human resources
  • Respond to employee and management labor relations inquiries regarding HR programs, policies, procedures and regulations; ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations & laws.
  • Critically assess and adjust the U.S. immigration case strategy to meet changing needs, often in consultation with internal and external partners
  • Troubleshoot immigration issues and come up with practical and efficient solutions
  • Educate managers and business partners on employee U.S. immigration concerns, strategies, and guidelines
  • Communicate regular updates to employees and stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain system records to ensure accurate and timely information/documentation
  • Manage Company CDL program
  • Completes and manage special projects and periodic reports as assigned


Required Experience

  • 3-5 years experience in human resources or equivalent employment and labor law experience, including active participation in collective bargaining negotiations
  • Verifiable experience working with union leaders, employees and executives
  • Strong experience and working knowledge with prevailing wage and Taft-Hartley plans
  • Experience working in unionized environment, preferably a utility
  • 1-3 years of immigration experience either with a law firm or in-house with an organization that has a high volume of immigration-supported employees
  • JD preferred or certification in paralegal studies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Industrial and Labor Relations or equivalent work experience
  • Conflict mediation experience or training preferred
