EssentialFunctions:TheManagerofthe Department of Judicial Education is responsible for developing, implementing, and assuring adherence to College and departmentpoliciesand procedures, handling day to day operations, coordinating and managinghigh profile programs and ensuring that department-wide programmatic expectations are met. Provides supervision and management of Judicial Education staff, and has responsibility for the oversight of department operations, Oversees the management of all courses and all documents associated with course operation in an efficient, timely and quality manner. Uses project plans to manage the myriad of programs within the department. Works closely with the Assistant Administrator of the Judicial College to ensure the department is addressing the continuing education needs of the Judiciarys judges, magistrates and commissioners. Updates project plans and attends Program Manager Meetings to support academic courses. Performs additional essential functions as assigned.

 

The Manager of the Department of Judicial Education will develop, implement and direct the department’s policies and programs to impact the Judicial College and department missions towards carrying out theJudiciarysmission. Conducts an on-going assessment, in collaboration with the Assistant Administrator, regarding the continuing education need so fjudges, magistrates and commissioners at all levels of the judicial system. Identifies emergent legal issues for curriculum development to fulfill the department’s educational programs. Directs department programs by performing state wide needs assessments of judges, magistrates and commissioners at all levels of the judicial system. Facilitates annual academic courses late in  collaboration with the Assistant Administrator, and the

Judicial Education Subcommittee chairperson to Identify specific learning objectives for educational programs for judges and magistrates at each level of the court systembased onneedsassessmentsand goals identified. Directs the department program managers in working with volunteer course coordinators and course facultyto develop curricula and ensure use of varied and effective adult learning Instructional methodologies. Supervises updating and editing of all judges and magistratesBenchBooks. Provides direction and oversight to the development of department course catalogue and course materials, including electronic versions. Develops and implements strategies to communicate issues, events, policies, and procedures to judges and magistrates a tall levels of the judicial system. Works with the Judicial College management team to prepare the annual department budget.

 

 

Requirements

Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, substantive experience with adult education preferred.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in developing, administering, and delivering instructional programs for adults. Three (3) years of experience supervising professional staff.
