JOB SUMMARY:


To administer all components of the MLH Leave of Absence policy and to apply appropriate Earned Leave time including short and long term disability during approved time away from work. Ensures compliance with system policies, procedures and applicable federal and state regulations.

Essential Accountabilities – FMLA and Disability Policy Claim Processing

1 Analyze, evaluate and process all leave of absence requests to determine eligibility for FMLA entitlement and/or disability benefits for employees of the Main Line Health system

2 Monitor and review claims to ensure proper and reasonable medical documentation is provided by employee to support time away from work due to employee illness and/or care of family member

3 Communicate to employees, Managers and Human Resources of the leave request status (approved, denied, or preliminary), length of FMLA leave available, leave type and benefit coverage during the leave

4 Enter approved time into Kronos Workforce Leave for timely payment of wages. Follow up with managers regarding ability to return an employee to work (full duty or limited capacity)

5 Identify system or administrative process improvement and communicate to the Manager, FMLA & Disability Leaves

6 Work closely with payroll to process/audit claims in a timely manner to prevent loss of pay or overpayment of wages

7 Provide guidance and coordinate the leave of absence policy with Workers Compensation and/or ADAAA requirements

8 Resolve complex leave of absence issues. Collaborate with Management, Human Resource staff and Legal Counsel to analyze, evaluate and facilitate employee relations issues regarding FMLA and/or disability leave claims

9 Deliver and facilitate training to Managers on policies as well as state and federal regulations applying to FMLA, Workers Compensation and the Americans with Disabilities Act

10 Respond to all management and employee questions regarding policy, FMLA, ADAAA and other associated federal and state regulations

11 Serve as a liaison between managers, employees and disability vendors to resolve outstanding claim issues in an effective and timely manner.

12 Independently perform special projects and other duties as assigned



Essential Accountabilities – FMLA and Disability Policy Administration

1 Ensures the proper and consistent administration of FMLA, ADAAA and Disability claims throughout MLH

2 Assist Human Resource representatives in assessing complex claim situations. Research claim issues and provide recommendations on proper claim processing actions. Identifies claims that pose a significant legal or employee relations risk and refers promptly to Managers and HR Directors

3 Develop and distribute communications to employees and managers via various media techniques to improve knowledge of FMLA, ADAAA and Disability policy provisions

4 Develop and maintain a system to audit FMLA and Disability Claim activity

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience in HR, disability or payroll


Experience:

Detailed knowledge of FMLA, ADAAA, and Workers Compensation regulations
Experience working in a confidential environment
General knowledge of Human Resource Practices
PC application experience (spreadsheets, word processing, databases)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently
Experience educating groups
Strong conflict resolution skills

Able to effectively build relationships with client groups, customers, peers and management
Familiarity with federal, state and local regulatory requirements relating to Human Resources


LICENSURES & CERTIFICATIONS:


PHR preferred
