Position Summary/Position

The Instructional Designer III is responsible to partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify learning objectives and thereby architect, design, develop, and produce appropriate training curriculum, learning treatments and activities; while utilizing applicable learning modalities to achieve and measure multiple levels of skill and competencies. 

In this role, the Instructional Designer III may be responsible for planning, implementing, and delivering department level training programs to all Team Members. In addition, the Instructional Designer III is responsible for partnering with SME’s to evaluate initial training and ongoing learning opportunities to achieve consistency among Team Members as well as providing strong educational foundation to execute Team Member roles effectively. 

The Instructional Designer III partners with the Instructional Design & Learning Technology Manager to define IEHP curriculum standards and Instructional Design Protocols, Procedures, Policies, and Best Practice.  The Instructional Designer III is responsible to train others in the art and skill of Instructional Design and Content Development, and is expected to provide expert consultation in learning program production, measurement, visualization, and delivery via multiple modalities, methodologies, and mediums. 

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

The Instructional Designer III:

  1. Provides Instructional Design support and expertise for all Instructional Design projects within the IEHP Institute for Learning and Innovation Instructional Design Center for Excellence.
  2. Assures projects within the Instructional Design Center for Excellence Delivery Life Cycle are completed in a timely manner, while driving best practice, quality, and performance results.
  3. Works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Vendors, Instructors, and Trainers, (from any subject area), and custom strategizes the way specific (and at times disparate) learning content is designed, developed, created, produced, delivered, recorded, tracked, measured, and reported upon. 
  4. Conducts project discovery, identifies and architects the appropriate training treatments, and assesses the workforce effort to produce learning activities; then turns the assessment into a Storyboard, to aid customers in visualizing what they will receive in the finished product.
  5. Converts the Storyboard into a Scope of Work (SOW) and provide the SOW to the Instructional Design Center for Excellence Delivery Team to: develop, build, test, deliver, track, and report upon.
  6. Quantifies effective measures to meet specific training goals.
  7. Analyzes training data to assess training effectiveness in alignment with Fitzpatrick, CCAF, and other assessment modalities.
  8. Assists and coaches Instructional Designer I’s and II’s in all Job Duties and Responsibilities as necessary. 

Requirements

Experience Qualifications

6-10 years in Instructional Design Functions and Curriculum Delivery

5-8 years demonstrated experience in Training and Group Facilitation with Adult Learners

Education Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required – Field of study: Communications, Education, Business or related field.

Professional Certification

ATD Master Certifications in one or more of the following areas are preferred:

Instructional Designer, Designing Learning Certificate, Needs Assessment Certificate, Master Trainer, Adult Learning Certificate

Knowledge Requirement

Strong Understanding of Adult Learning Modalities

Instructional Design Methods SAM and ADDIE

Content Authoring Tool Mastery

Kirkpatrick Measures Mastery

Blooms Taxonomy and Allen’s CCAF Expertise (or like model models)

Software Cycle Testing – Functional, User, End-to-End

Strong understanding of eLearning Protocols – SCORM 1-4, Tin Can, AICC, etc.…

Strong understanding of Meta Data Practices associated with curriculum tracking and Learning Repository Stores / Learning Content Management

Starting Salary: $61,609.00  - $78,520.00  

Pay rate will commensurate with experience
