The Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA) is an alliance of large clean energy buyers, developers, and service providers who, together with NGO partners, are unlocking the marketplace for all non-residential energy buyers to lead a rapid transition to a cleaner, prosperous, zero-carbon energy future.  REBA’s vision is a resilient zero-carbon energy system where every organization has a viable, expedient, and cost-effective pathway to renewable energy.

Position Overview

REBA’s Director of People will report to the CFO / COO and will have primary responsibility for the full spectrum of human resource, compliance, and training & development functions at a rapidly growing, non-profit trade association.  This is an opportunity is to build an HR function from the ground up vs executing a mature organizations' established policies and procedures.  This role helps realize REBA’s vision by growing a world-class team where talents are unleashed, processes zoom and work is fun. 

This role will directly manage a team of two dedicated professionals and will play an essential role in creating an inclusive culture that enables a diverse set of individuals to thrive while increasing the collective impact of the team in creating a zero-carbon energy system.   

Core Responsibilities

  • Supports cross-functional initiatives to enhance diversity and ensure equity and inclusion in hiring, HR policies, and organizational procedures and norms
  • Oversees the development and implementation of consistent human resources policies, practices, and processes which maintain legal compliance and support REBA’s desired culture
  • Builds effective relationships with employees across the organization and engages with conflict management and employee discipline issues as needed
  • Ensures effective staffing activities including assisting hiring managers develop inclusive job descriptions, participating in recruiting and interviewing candidates, collaborating with hiring managers on candidate selection, and negotiating employment offers
  • Manages consistent compensation and benefits structure by researching periodic pay surveys, recommending annual updates, and ensuring pay equity
  • Manage and support learning and development opportunities as a key element of REBA’s desired culture
  • Other duties as assigned


REBA strives for pay equity, based on experience, qualifications, and performance.  REBA's Deputy Director / Director / Sr. Director salary band is $121, 000 to $193,000 with a 20% bonus opportunity and very generous benefits. REBA strives for salary equity based on the job, and the candidate’s experience, skills, education, and (once hired) performance at REBA—not based on a candidate’s negotiation skills, gender, race, sexual orientation, or any other non-skills-based attributes.

  • A combination of prior experience and/or education equivalent to a Master’s degree and 7 or more years’ relevant experience.
  • Professional HR Certification or equivalent education
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Detailed and organized yet comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes
  • Lived experience with, or authentic attention to, diverse, inclusive, equitable and justice-based approaches and issues
  • Multi-lingual abilities a plus
  • Experience in non-profit organizations is helpful but not required
