Loyola Marymount University is recruiting for a Human Resources Specialist, Investigations. Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator and EEO Officer, the HR Specialist will provide support for the administration of policies related to complaints of protected class discrimination and harassment, and related retaliation. The HR Specialist will conduct investigations of complaints and provide a detailed, unbiased report regarding the findings of the investigation. The HR Specialist may be required to be on-call after hours in the event that a report of sexual or interpersonal misconduct is reported and requires immediate attention.

Additional responsibilities include: advocating for just and fair application of Human Resources policies and procedures; assisting in the development of programs and activities to support a culture of open inquiry, pluralism and mutual respect among students, faculty, and staff; developing/implementing training programs; organizing and maintaining files, disposition reports and other compiled reports; and developing/implementing an assessment plan to monitor the community climate regarding discriminatory harassment.

Requirements

We seek candidates that typically possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communication, Organizational Development or related field or equivalent experience. HR Specialist will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of relevant regulation/policy changes. Minimum 3 years’ experience in employee relations and conducting investigations and/or grievance procedures (informal and formal) is required. EEO compliance and legal interpretation experience preferred. Experience in higher education highly desired. The ability to demonstrate excellent judgment and strong conflict resolution skills is required. Strong analytical/critical thinking and writing skills are required. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to listen well, demonstrate sensitivity and respect for individual needs, and maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive matters.
