The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Human Resources Officer,  primarily assigned to Employee Benefits. This position is under high pressure timelines and responsible for heavy data entry, tracking, and reporting. This class often works independently to broad guidelines working with minimal supervision.

Salary: $19.87 - $21.25/hr

Position Duties:

The tasks listed below are typical responsibilities of this class. Management may assign additional tasks necessary.

  • Interact with employees via telephone, email and in person providing information and guidance regarding various HR matters: assists employees with the completion of any HR related forms/paperwork;directs employees to appropriate personnel and resources as needed.
  • Assists employees with new hire benefits enrollments, annual benefits Open Enrollment, and qualifying changes year-round.
  • Process various personnel related documents.
  • Maintain/scan personnel and benefit files and documents .
  • Assist with creating and modifying HR policies, rules and procedures necessary for the agency to comply with HR laws and regulations.
  • Develop, modify, maintain and update electronic HR information for employee dissemination through global email notification and intranet announcements.
  • Provide individual and group presentations on HR related topics.
  • Prepare special project and periodic reports related to employee benefits.
  • Perform routine office tasks including typing, filing, faxing, scanning, telephoning and photocopying.
  • May act as a point of contact for records requests made by the public, coordinates with the agency's records unit.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and posting HR related content on the internal intranet.
  • Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration or related field. 

Requires two years of full time paid experience in employee benefits administration/customer service. 

Requires past experience creating announcements for dissemination through the intranet, agency wide notifications, and/or hard copy newsletters. 

Requires strong communications skills. 

(An equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be considered).

Candidate with experience using a benefits database. 

Experience in a public sector environment; preferred.

Applicants with a current SHRM Certification will receive an additional pay of $1,200.00 per year.
