Job Overview
This position is concerned with directing, coordinating and supervising the human resource services for the Komatsu Mining Corp. Crushing and Conveying business located at the Winfield, AL and Lexington, KY locations. The Winfield, AL location is a union facility that specializes in the manufacturing of Underground Conveyors for the US market with manufacturing, supply chain, sales and engineering teams located onsite and a current headcount of 217. The Lexington, KY office specializes in the design and product engineering for the Crushing business and encompasses approximately 41 engineers. The role will be located in Winfield, AL with occasional travel to Lexington as needed.
 
This position requires a thorough knowledge and expertise in administration of a labor agreement, preventive labor relations, union avoidance, wage and salary administration, environmental, health & safety (EHS), EEO, OSHA laws, benefits administration, training, succession planning and effective human relations.
 
 Responsibilities
•    Design, develop, coordinate and administer an effective business partner human resources effort for the Komatsu Mining locations at Winfield, AL (Bargaining) and Lexington, KY(Non-Bargaining), PA in a high-impact, relationship building approach.
•    Proactively address labor relations by partnering with leadership and front-line supervisors to foster positive relationships with the bargained and non-bargaining workforce.
•    Administer and interpret the Labor Agreement for the Winfield, AL manufacturing facility. Participate in contract negotiations, administer the grievance procedure and assist with the preparation of arbitration cases.
•    Lead coaching & talent development activities in alignment with the Talent Management processes and business objectives. This includes the administration of the K-Success performance evaluation process and compensation (merit/bonus) administration process.
•    Accountability for the administration of our Komatsu compensation and health & wellness programs.
•    Lead recruiting activities for hourly and salaried positions within assigned locations. Diligently monitor headcount numbers, costs and spend.
•    Support and assist in any Operational Excellence initiatives. This may include partnering on change management activities, leadership support at employee meetings, etc.
•    Direct staffing needs and development efforts for each assigned location (succession planning). Facilitate or coordinate training programs based on identified needs. Identify candidates for L&D training programs and assist in the coordination of these efforts, if needed.
•    Support the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) efforts at each assigned location.
•    Lead or participate in special projects as needed.

Requirements

Education / Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations or related business field. Master’s Degree a plus.
•    Labor Relations and/or SPHR certification a plus.
•    Minimum 8 years of labor relations and talent management, coaching, employee/leadership development, succession planning and human resources business partner experience.
•    Experience in a manufacturing environment with strong knowledge and application of industry best practices.
•    Must have a passion and desire for continuous improvement and provide leadership that will motivate and challenge the organization to change and improve.
•    Self-starter with high level of integrity with the ability to communicate broadly and connect with the wide variety of constituents.
