HR Manager

Reports To:  Director of Finance & Operations                                Job Status:  full time, 12-month, exempt

Salary Information:  Salary will be commensurate with experience. Full benefits and an employer-matched 401(K) retirement program included.

Description:  JSerra Catholic High School is in search of a highly dynamic and experienced human resources professional to serve 200 employees.  This position will oversee all HR strategy, initiatives, systems, and processes.  The HR Manager is expected to assess and anticipate needs, opportunities, and issues related to human capital and then develop and implement solutions.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manage employee recruitment and onboarding
  • Collaborate with the administration to ensure employee retention, performance management, compensation benchmarking, and succession planning
  • Champion staff culture and morale through recognition programs and events
  • Oversee and facilitate a comprehensive performance evaluation program
  • Create and revise job descriptions as needed
  • Keep employees apprised of policies, procedures, deadlines, and staff meetings
  • Stay informed of federal and state guidelines regarding wages, benefits, and workplace mandates and regulations (e.g. FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA, Title VII)
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the school administration to ensure adequate coverage of personnel needs
  • Collaborate with the administration to offer ongoing training and development for supervisors
  • Mediate staff conflict and provide coaching to both managers and direct reports
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion regarding all personnel matters
  • Advocate for professional development opportunities for staff and faculty
  • Conduct workplace investigations and serve as liaison with outside counsel
  • Oversee periodic compliance audits
  • Guide school administration through the employee separation process
  • Maintain and revise as necessary employee handbook for consistency and compliance
  • Serve as a safe-haven for all staff and faculty regarding discretionary matters
  • Manage the wage and benefit administration and distribution of employee contracts
  • Provide other general human resource duties as needed

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Superb organizational and administrative skills
  • Proven ability to set priorities
  • Adept at conflict resolution
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office


 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources, organizational development, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with an established track record as an HR leader
  • Relevant HR certification preferred
