Human Resources Manager

The HR Manager is a Business Partner aligned with the plant manager and leadership team who anticipates needs and challenges to the business and develops and deploys human capital solutions to address those needs. The HR Manager is accountable for managing all essential functions of Human Resources (captured below) and for initiating appropriate actions to ensure business needs are met. The HR Manager has the responsibility to look across the plant to identify challenges and opportunities and externally to identify trends, alliances and partnerships to drive excellence in the business and in the function. Accountable for promoting and supporting HSE initiatives for all employees.

Main responsibilities

• Lead representative for the company in handling employee concerns ensuring process are well established and executed with respect while embracing trust and collaboration.
• Partners with operations to forecast skill sets required in forward years and works proactively to close those gaps through succession planning and focused training & development.
• Periodically evaluates the overall efficiency of the organization (structure and processes).
• Challenges others to develop as leaders and motivates and develops own team through career discussions.
• Develops fulfillment strategies and partnerships to attract talent. Develops talent sources via community outreach that may include but are not limited to local high schools, trade / technical schools and universities.
• Works with operational partners to ensure robust onboarding and effective engagement throughout the early stages of their employment.
• Responsible for administering compensation practices within Nemak guidelines. Keeps abreast of competitive practices within the local market that impact Nemak’s ability to attract and retain talent.
• Recommends innovative programs and solutions as required.
• Responsible for hourly compensation benchmarking.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the National Labor Relations Act and many other rules and regulations.
• Develops a comprehensive strategy for targeting and managing external relationships in the local community.
• An integral component is to identify and engage causes that result in Nemak being recognized as a good corporate citizen.
• Personally serves as an ambassador for Nemak in the community.
• Develops and implements an internal communication and engagement strategy.
• Responsible for understanding, communicating, auditing and ensuring compliance with all site, corporate, regulatory and procedural environmental, safety, security, health, quality and human resources standards (for managers).


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business / HR  
  • PHR Certification Preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive human resources experience
  • Previous HR Manager experience required
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Preferred
