We have an opening for a Human Resources Manager who will be responsible for providing human resources services at the professional level and will carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management and policy implementation. This position will provide coaching and consultation to managers and staff in regard to the interpretation of Human Resources programs, practices and policies and ensure compliance with federal, state and local legislation. Working closely with the Director of Human Resources, this position will support employee relations, including the identification of exceptional solutions, recommendations for resolution, follow up and monitoring outcomes. This position is based in our Mountain View office, with travel to our other offices as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, implement and administer Human Resource policies and procedures to ensure compliance; ensures policies and procedures are consistently and fairly applied to all employee, reviews policy for compliance with current law, recommends changes to policies, updates as directed.
  • Partner with employees and management to administer and communicate policies, procedures, laws, standards and governmental regulations. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of federal and state employment laws and use this knowledge to assist in making effective business decisions related to employee issues.
  • Manage employee on-boarding process; conducting new hire orientations, presenting and monitoring introductory period plan, and managing 90-day performance evaluation.
  • Monitor on-boarding and off-boarding of contingent workers to ensure compliance. 
  • Administer the staff performance review program. Ensure appropriate feedback, engagement from managers and track completion.
  • Conduct effective and timely investigations of employee complaints and employee relations issues; make recommendations and implement corrective action, where necessary.
  • Manage termination process; coordinate separation meeting, exit interview, process of final wages, witness separations and ensure all required separation documentation is provided to employee and filed in terminated file.
  • Stay abreast of changing legal and HR best practices.
  • Participate in special projects related to performance management, employee recognition, policy creation, discretionary merit bonus program, etc.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resource law, principles and best practices that relate to employee relations, performance management and policy implementation.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times and in all situations.
  • Ability to manage a high volume workload and efficiently prioritize competing demands.
  • Superb attention to detail, grammar and punctuation.
  • Strong focus on client service and responsiveness.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively across offices and build strong relationships across attorney populations and with other professionals at the Firm.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and discretion as to confidential and/or sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong listening skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership, commitment to the job, initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively both as a team member and independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to inspire confidence of attorneys and staff at all levels.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field, 5+ years of experience in HR with management experience and a PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP is preferred.
